GBSB Global Business School

GBSB Global Business School is a private English-taught business school with campuses in Barcelona, Madrid and Malta, plus online study. Legally it is a Maltese higher education institution licensed by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority, operating in Catalonia as a foreign university centre. The Barcelona bachelor’s is the Bachelor of Business Administration and Digital Innovation: 3 years, 180 ECTS, level 6 of the Maltese and European qualifications frameworks. On the programme page, a year costs $15,780 (€13,900).

Good fit: school leavers who want business and digital skills taught entirely in English in Barcelona, with three intakes a year and a moderate budget for a private school. It also suits students who value the option to leave with an interim award after Year 1 or Year 2.

Compare alternatives if you need a Spanish official degree (título oficial) for public-sector work, a regulated profession or a public master’s in Spain; a Spanish university is the better route. The GBSB degree is awarded under the Maltese system.

The key point before applying: GBSB awards its own degree as a Maltese higher education institution. Malta’s regulator MFHEA maintains the national qualifications framework and accredits programmes by level; the GBSB bachelor’s sits at level 6, like any European bachelor’s. Catalonia’s government authorised the school as a foreign university centre, and the centre is recorded in Spain’s RUCT register under code 08073661.

In Madrid, the regional authorisation covers the Undergraduate Higher Diploma in Business Administration and Digital Innovation. If you choose the Madrid campus, confirm which award you will leave with and where the final bachelor’s year takes place.

For international quality marks, GBSB cites ACBSP business accreditation, the UK’s ASIC and a five-star QS Stars rating. If you plan a regulated profession or public-sector job in Spain, look into the foreign-degree recognition procedure early.

The Barcelona campus is at Carrer d’Aragó, 179, in the Eixample district, in the city centre. Students come from more than 100 countries, and faculty from 37. Outside class the school runs social events, city tours and sports clubs.

GBSB has no residence halls of its own: it partners with student housing providers that offer new students special rates. The lease itself is signed with the chosen residence or landlord.

Year 1 of the bachelor’s is 60 compulsory ECTS. Year 2 combines 45 compulsory credits with electives, and Year 3 adds a 15-ECTS dissertation to 30 compulsory ECTS and electives. Focus areas GBSB offers within the BBA include AI for business, cybersecurity, digital marketing, finance and fintech, fashion and luxury, and sports and esports.

1. 6–8 months before the start. Choose an intake (October, January or April) and take the English test.
2. Application. Complete the form, upload documents, pay the €100 ($110) fee and do the interview.
3. Scholarship. Apply with your documents; the decision arrives within 48 hours.
4. Visa. With the admission letter, apply for the national study visa through the BLS centre no later than two months before classes.

GBSB lists a four-line annual price on the Barcelona bachelor’s page and notes that fees are reviewed periodically.

If rates stay the same, three years cost $47,350 (€41,700), plus $110 for the application. For living in Barcelona the school suggests about €1,000 ($1,140) a month: €400–500 ($450–570) for a room in a shared flat, or from €650 ($740) to live alone.

Bachelor’s scholarships. The Merit-Based and Future Leaders awards cut tuition by up to 30%: the first for academic results, the second for proven leadership, each with an essay of up to 200 words. They cannot be combined, and the award applies only after a 25% deposit. The maximum 30% of the tuition line is $4,340 (€3,825) a year; registration and administrative fees are not reduced.

Students find housing through the school’s partner residences or the private market. A lease in your name helps with the visa and local registration, so arrange any short-term option for the first weeks in advance. The bachelor’s is built around applied digital-business courses, and the school runs a careers service. How the degree performs on the job market depends largely on the projects, internships and skills a student collects over three years in Barcelona.

The mistakes we see most often:

• treating GBSB as a Spanish university and expecting a título oficial;
• choosing the Madrid campus without checking which programme it is authorised to teach;
• calculating the scholarship on the full annual total when it only reduces tuition;
• forgetting the 25% deposit without which the award is not applied.
