SKEMA Business School
SKEMA in one paragraph
SKEMA is a private French business school, a "grande école", with French campuses in Lille, Paris and Sophia Antipolis near Nice and further sites in the USA, Brazil, China, the UAE and South Africa. Its flagship degrees are approved by the French Ministry of Higher Education, and most programmes are taught fully in English.
It is not a public university, so fees are commercial, but the Global BBA confers the French "licence" grade and the Master in Management the "master" grade, which matters for visas, further study and public-sector recognition.
- Deadlines: rolling; the next application deadline is always the 15th of the month, and places are limited.
- Good fit: students who want an English business degree in France with a year or two on another continent.
- Weak fit: applicants who need low tuition, a research university, or a French-taught public licence.
What the SKEMA diplomas actually are
French private schools issue three kinds of credentials, and SKEMA's main programmes sit at the top of that ladder. Always check which one your programme leads to.
| Programme | Official status | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Global BBA | DESMIE diploma approved by the Ministry, conferring the "licence" grade; RNCP 40811 | Level 6, four years |
| Master in Management (Grande École) | Ministry-approved, conferring the "master" grade; RNCP 41054 | Level 7 |
| MSc programmes | MSc plus the DESMI diploma approved by the Ministry at master's level | Master's level |
- Financial Times Masters in Management 2026 — 13th worldwide, 4th in France
- FT Masters in Finance 2026 — MSc Financial Markets & Investments 2nd worldwide
- Global BBA — 3rd in Le Point 2026, 5th in Le Figaro 2026
Which campus you start on
The Global BBA starts in Lille or Sophia Antipolis, and students can spend one or two years abroad on SKEMA's campuses in Raleigh, Belo Horizonte, Suzhou or Dubai, or at partner universities. The Master in Management runs in Lille, Paris and Sophia Antipolis as well as in Brazil, China, the USA and Stellenbosch.
Specialisations are tied to places: Luxury Brand Management and Corporate Finance are in Sophia Antipolis, International Business and Artificial Intelligence in Raleigh, Supply Chain in Nanjing, and Marketing moves to Lille from autumn 2027. Choose the specialisation first and the campus follows.
Programmes and tuition
| Programme | Length | Tuition | Starts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Global BBA | 4 years | $15,897 (€14,000) a year, 2026/27 | September, January |
| Master in Management | 2 years | $42,014 (€37,000) for both years | September |
| MSc Financial Markets & Investments | 1 or 2 years | $33,497 (€29,500) / $53,368 (€47,000) | August, September |
A service fee of $568 (€500) is added for every year of study in all three programmes. The BBA fee is labelled 2026/27; the MiM and MSc pages give current figures without naming a year, so the contract signed at registration is what fixes the price. Double-degree BBA tracks add €3,000 a year plus the partner university's tuition.
First-year BBA courses include business mathematics, calculus, accounting for business decisions, principles of management, statistics, introduction to finance, marketing principles and TOEIC preparation.
How SKEMA selects
Admission is file-based with an interview. For the Global BBA, SKEMA weights the academic dossier at 40%, the motivational interview at 35%, a portfolio of at least two extracurricular items at 15% and the English score at 10%.
- Eight to ten months ahead: choose the programme, campus and specialisation; book an English test.
- Before the 15th of the chosen month: submit the online application with transcripts (predicted grades accepted for the BBA).
- Interview: an admissions jury assesses motivation and fit.
- Offer: sign the contract and pay the deposit by the stated enrolment deadline, then start the visa procedure.
Common mistakes with SKEMA applications
- Applying to the Master in Management with a French bachelor's through the international route: that route is for degrees earned abroad, with at least two years spent outside France.
- Choosing the one-year MSc without the work experience it demands: six months for Financial Markets & Investments, Strategic Management & Consulting and Corporate Financial Management.
- Waiting for a fixed spring deadline: SKEMA admits on a rolling basis, and popular MSc places fill early.
- Forgetting that the service fee and double-degree supplements are charged on top of tuition.
English requirements and documents
For entry into BBA year two SKEMA asks for IELTS 6 or TOEFL iBT 70; year three needs IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 80. MSc applicants need IELTS 6, TOEFL iBT 70, TOEIC 810 or Duolingo 105, with waivers for native speakers and for applicants who studied or worked two years in an English-speaking country.
- Passport or ID and photo
- CV and cover letter
- Transcripts of the last two school years (BBA) or the university degree
- At least two portfolio items for the BBA: sport, art, volunteering, recommendations
- English test certificate
- Certified translations of anything not in French or English
- MSc: $114 (€100) non-refundable application fee
The one-year MSc expects a four-year degree (240 ECTS); the two-year MSc accepts a three-year bachelor's of 180 ECTS.
A realistic first-year budget
For a Global BBA student in Lille or Sophia Antipolis, the school costs alone are $16,465 (€14,500) a year once the service fee is added. A one-year MSc in Financial Markets & Investments comes to $34,065 (€30,000) with the service fee, before the application fee.
Rent, insurance, visa and the French proof-of-resources rule come on top, and Paris costs more than Lille or the Côte d'Azur. See the cost of studying in France for city benchmarks. SKEMA's financial aid office handles scholarships, bank loans and support for elite athletes; awards are decided by the school.
Housing and the French student visa
SKEMA does not house all students itself. It partners with Studely, which offers a blocked account accepted as proof of resources, fee-payment solutions and help finding accommodation, with a discount for SKEMA students.
Students from many countries apply for the long-stay student visa through Campus France's Études en France platform before the consulate appointment; the consulate decides. Our guides to French student visas and student housing in France cover the steps.
Who SKEMA suits and graduate outcomes
SKEMA reports that 90% of Global BBA graduates (class of 2024) who went into work found a job within six months and that 65% continued their studies; for the Master in Management, the net employment rate after six months was 99% for the class of 2023. Audit, consulting and finance lead, followed by sales and business development, then marketing.
It suits students who want a recognised French grade in English, international mobility and a finance, luxury or consulting pathway, and who can fund private tuition. It is not the right choice for applicants chasing low fees or for those who need an engineering or science degree.
Programme and campus selection, document checks, interview preparation, the Campus France file and visa-stage support are provided under an agreement with StudyU; SKEMA decides admission and scholarships, and the French consulate decides the visa.
