Not every international applicant needs TR-YÖS. Start with the degree’s admission rules: which qualification and examination does it accept? Exam registration, a score and a university application are separate steps. TR-YÖS does not replace language evidence or an admission decision.
What TR-YÖS means
ÖSYM administers the central TR-YÖS examination. The name YÖS also appears in material about other or former university exams. Do not transfer their scoring systems or dates to TR-YÖS. Use the official 2026 TR-YÖS/2 guide for the current examination.
The 2026 calendar and your intended intake
The ÖSYM calendar lists TR-YÖS/2 for 11 October 2026 and results for 5 November. The published summer application windows have passed. Check new announcements for a later cycle rather than reusing these dates.
Compare the result date with the university’s deadline for receiving it. A score arriving after the deadline may not serve the intended intake. Ask separately whether a previous result is accepted.
Questions, duration and scoring
The 2026 guide specifies 40 numerical aptitude questions and 40 basic mathematics questions in 100 minutes. The 0.45 and 0.55 coefficients weight standardised test scores; they are not points per correct answer. Consult the guide for the complete scoring formula and treatment of wrong answers.
Exam fees and the full cost of a sitting
Check the fee for your examination centre and cycle in the official guide and payment screen. In a planning budget in $, separate registration, preparation, travel and accommodation. Record the original currency and conversion date. An old fee is not a quote for a new sitting.
Can you take TR-YÖS online?
TR-YÖS takes place at an examination centre. Online application does not mean an online examination. Before paying for another online test, ask the university whether it accepts that exact result for the course and intake.
Which result does your university accept?
| Check | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Your international applicant category | Admission rules, citizenship and school-history requirements |
| Accepted exam, minimum score and validity | The intended programme’s accepted examinations list |
| Additional selection | Language, subject prerequisites, portfolio or interview requirements |
| Timing | Application deadline and any separate results deadline |
For medicine and dentistry, also compare clinical language and professional recognition. Meeting a minimum score permits an application to be considered. Selection and admission remain the university’s decisions.
Registration and eligibility
Read the guide’s candidate categories before registering. Citizenship history and where you attended secondary school matter; the 2026 rules include specific categories and exceptions. Use the official TR-YÖS application system and check identity details, photograph, examination centre, language and payment status.
Exam documents and school Denklik for university registration serve different purposes. Keep the application confirmation and check which identity document is accepted on exam day.
Validity and another attempt
The guide gives TR-YÖS a validity period of two years from the examination date. Check the intended intake’s rules as well. Before arranging another sitting, confirm its result date and which score the university will accept.
Build a practical preparation plan
- Read the current format and official sample material.
- Take a timed diagnostic and identify weak topics and recurring errors.
- Plan mathematics, numerical reasoning and time management separately.
- Repeat timed practice under comparable conditions.
- Keep language preparation and university documents on the same calendar.
TR-YÖS and language requirements
The language you choose for exam questions is not proof of academic English or Turkish. Check the degree’s separate language certificate, internal test and preparatory-year requirements. Include the time and cost of any language year in your comparison.
Compare an exam route with a permitted alternative
If the private university accepts your school documents without TR-YÖS, compare entry requirements, total cost and timing. Use the Turkey university guide and admission examinations overview. A reserve option should fit both the study goal and the family’s budget.
Public universities are discussed here for information. Under an agreement with StudyU, Turkish admissions support concerns private universities; see the service scope. The university makes the admission decision.
During the free initial consultation, we clarify your goal, profile, timing and budget and identify the next realistic step. Include the programme and intake you are considering.
