Tuition and fees
Silliman University’s published 2026/27 tables show why an individual quote matters. The two-semester base estimate for first-year BS Computer Science totals about $1,700. This is not a confirmed international-student total: a separate schedule lists a foreign student fee and ACR verification, together about $104 each semester. Request an invoice for your status, load and intake; do not assume every extra charge is included or that these two categories are exhaustive.
A housing example at the same university is one place in a four-person Channon Hall room at about $284 per semester. Meals are charged separately, with the source indicating about $5 per day. Two semesters are not 12 months: confirm occupancy dates, holidays, summer accommodation, availability and residence rules. Electricity, appliances, deposits and other charges need separate calculation.
The complete annual budget depends on your fee category, study load and actual occupancy dates. Add insurance, visas, flights, transport, connectivity and materials. MD, nursing and clinical placements require their own stage-specific fees; Computer Science prices do not apply to them.
For a lower budget, compare suitable programmes, cities and available dormitories using full contracts. A lower fee cannot replace accreditation and professional-recognition checks. Treat scholarships, future work and a residence place as unconfirmed until the relevant decision.

How StudyU supports your application
Under an agreement with StudyU, we show tuition, requirements and timing before the application and build the route around your chosen country, university and programme. The university decides admission, and the competent authority decides the visa or residence permit.
Visa and paperwork
Check the applicable study visa or residence route for your nationality, age, programme and duration with the competent authority. Confirm the documents, funding, charges and timing before travel; an offer does not guarantee permission or extension. The official 9(f) route covers eligible foreign students aged 18 or over taking study above high-school level. Short-course permits are a distinct route; confirm school authorization and status requirements.
Student life and budget
Compare housing, food and transport for the actual campus and clinical sites. Manila, Cebu and Dumaguete are different budgets; season, air conditioning, travel and connectivity can change the total. Confirm the teaching and clinical language rather than assuming English alone covers every placement.
Recognition: the key question
The receiving institution assesses recognition for further study; the competent body decides access to a regulated profession. Check the programme, award and intended destination. Teaching language or international branding does not replace this assessment. Medical licensing may depend on prior study, clinical training and examinations. An American-style curriculum does not establish eligibility for US or other licensing routes; verify the exact programme with the relevant authority.
Questions to ask before applying
Whose accreditation does the MD program hold, and where have graduates actually licensed? How is clinical practice organised and in which hospitals? What exactly does tuition include - labs, uniforms, insurance? Is there USMLE preparation support? These four answers separate a strong medical track from a "cheap diploma", and we obtain them in writing before your deposit.
The takeaway
Consider the Philippines when the programme, clinical requirements, language and full cost fit your plans. If your goal is practice in the EU or Russia, recognition requirements are reviewed under an agreement with StudyU before you apply; the competent recognition authority makes the decision.

How to apply to the Philippines
The institution assesses the exact school qualification, subjects, grades and language. For an 11-year certificate, confirm equivalence and programme eligibility before paying. Preparation or exams may be required; a language course alone does not establish academic eligibility. MD routes require separate checks of prior education and medical entry conditions.
Admission after school and master's
Master’s admission depends on the previous degree, relevant subjects, grades and language. Check programme-specific requirements, full duration and the fee period; a bachelor’s diploma does not guarantee admission. More: study-abroad guide.

Frequently asked questions
The Philippines route is mostly about medicine and recognition
Compare English-taught medical routes by admission conditions, prior study, clinical training, total duration and cost. Recognition, licensing and the intended country of practice require checking before applying; a low first-year fee alone cannot establish a viable route.
StudyU treats this destination as a specialist route. We compare the medical track, language, living costs and post-graduation plan with alternatives such as Turkey, Cyprus and Eastern Europe, so the family understands both the attraction and the limitations before paying for an application.
