The University of Seville is one of Spain's oldest and largest public universities: a papal bull of 1505 allowed the College of Santa María de Jesús to award degrees, and since 1948 the rectorate has occupied the former Royal Tobacco Factory. It has more than 32 faculties and schools, from medicine, pharmacy and law to aerospace engineering and fine arts. For international school leavers, the key feature is the spring phase for foreign applicants (Fase de Extranjeros): places are allocated on the grade of your recognised school certificate, without Spanish entrance exams, and in 2026 applications ran from 6 to 19 March. Spanish and international students pay the same price: in 2026/27 a credit costs $14 (€12.62), about $860 (€757.20) for a bachelor's year. From the second year, Andalusia refunds 99% of the price of courses passed at the first attempt.

Who Seville suits
Andalusia's public universities are among the most affordable in Spain, and the University of Seville combines that price with a very wide choice of subjects. It suits applicants who:
- are ready to study in Spanish;
- finished school recently (for 2026/27 entry, after 1 January 2023) with strong grades;
- are weighing health sciences, engineering, business and humanities within one university;
- want an affordable city; the University of Granada, which follows the same Andalusian rules, is a useful comparison.
If you need a fully English-taught degree, the choice is limited to four English-taught groups, which are more competitive than the Spanish ones. See our overview of English-taught degrees in Spain and the Spain country guide.
The spring phase for foreign applicants
Andalusia's public universities allocate places through a single district (Distrito Único Andaluz), which runs a separate early phase for foreign applicants.
Who can apply. Foreign nationals who finished school abroad after 1 January 2023 (the condition for 2026/27 entry; the date moves every year), whose school certificate has been recognised as equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato or who have applied for recognition. Their average grade, converted to the Spanish scale, must exceed a minimum published by the university.
How the score works. For non-EU certificates, the admission score is the grade on the recognition certificate, up to 10. No PAU or PCE exams are needed in this phase.
When. In the 2026/27 cycle:
| Step | Dates |
|---|---|
| Online application | 6–19 March 2026 |
| First allocation | 8 April; pre-enrolment and confirmation 8–14 April |
| Second allocation | 30 April; pre-enrolment 30 April – 6 May |
| Course enrolment | 3–9 July |
| Deadline for applicants still at school to submit grades or proof of recognition application | 17 July |
Pre-enrolment in this phase costs $450 (€400). Later enrolment happens on the university's self-enrolment platform with two-factor authentication.
What scores worked. In the second allocation of 2026/27, cut-offs included Dentistry 9.905, Pharmacy 9.650, Software Engineering (English group) 9.850, Finance and Accounting (English group) 9.730, Artificial Intelligence 9.717, Biochemistry 9.340, Aerospace Engineering with master's 9.330, Psychology 8.935, Business Administration 8.485, Law 7.833 and Mathematics 5.450 (all out of 10).
For 2026/27 entry, applicants who finished school before 2023 could not use this phase and had to go through the main admission.
The main admission round
Andalusia's June round excludes non-EU school leavers who hold only a recognised school certificate without entrance exams. You need PAU at any Spanish public university or PCE through UNEDasiss, the UNED service for foreign school certificates. The University of Seville also lets foreign applicants sit the exams on site under its own procedure.
| Main admission 2026/27 | Dates |
|---|---|
| Applications | 11–22 June 2026 |
| First allocation and enrolment | 3–9 July |
| Second allocation and enrolment | 16–20 July |
| Lists of remaining places | from 24 July, then in September |
| Applicants still finishing foreign school: allocation after grades are confirmed | 3–7 September |
Our guides to applying to Spanish universities and bachelor's degrees in Spain cover recognition and UNEDasiss.
What you can study
The University of Seville covers almost every field. In the 2026/27 spring phase, foreign applicants had places in programmes such as:
| Field | Examples |
|---|---|
| Health | Dentistry, Pharmacy, Psychology, Optics and Optometry, Podiatry |
| Engineering and architecture | aerospace, industrial, chemical and civil engineering (with master's via PARS), electronics, robotics and mechatronics, energy, materials, health engineering, architecture, building |
| Computing | Software Engineering (including an English group), Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Information Technology |
| Business and law | Business Administration (including English), Economics, Finance and Accounting (including English), Marketing, Law, Criminology, Tourism (including English) |
| Sciences | Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Statistics |
| Humanities and arts | Fine Arts, Conservation, History, Art History, languages and literature, Journalism, Film and Media, Advertising |
PARS pathways combine a bachelor's with the master's that qualifies you for a regulated engineering profession. If you are heading for engineering, choose the pathway from the start so you will not need a separate master's application later.
Graduating with a bachelor's requires proof of a foreign-language level; the university offers grants to students who need help reaching it.
Tuition and fees
At the University of Seville, international students pay the same public prices as Spanish students, as the university states in its enrolment rules. Prices follow Andalusia's public-price decree.
| Item, 2026/27 | Amount |
|---|---|
| Bachelor's credit, first enrolment, any degree | $14 (€12.62) |
| Bachelor's year, 60 credits | about $860 (€757.20) |
| Bachelor's credit, second enrolment | $29 (€25.25) |
| Credit for a master's not leading to a regulated profession | $16 (€13.68); 60 credits about $930 (€820.80) |
| Pre-enrolment in the spring foreign-applicant phase | $450 (€400) |
Add fees for opening your file, the student card and compulsory insurance for students under 28. Amounts above $270 (€240) can be split into two, five or eight payments. From the second year, a 99% discount applies: the university automatically deducts almost the whole price of credits you passed at the first attempt the previous year, provided you studied at an Andalusian public university. The decree sets no nationality condition, so international students qualify too.
Compare regions in our guide to the cost of studying in Spain. For families in Russia, transfers are a separate issue; see how to pay for studies abroad from Russia.
Master's admission with a foreign degree
Andalusian universities run a separate first phase of master's admission for holders of unrecognised foreign degrees. For 2026/27, applications ran from 13 to 29 January 2026, and one application could list up to six master's programmes at all Andalusian public universities in order of preference.
Attach your degree, a transcript showing course length in credits or months and your final average, and a certificate of your country's grading scale (minimum and maximum pass marks). Documents need a Spanish translation, though not necessarily a sworn one. Without the grading-scale certificate, you are given the minimum pass mark. At enrolment you pay $450 (€400) on account. Your order of preference is binding: once placed in your third choice, later choices are dropped.
How Spanish master's programmes differ by price, language and professional access is covered in our guide to master's degrees in Spain.
Housing and life in Seville
The university's community service (SACU) lists housing options, including colegios mayores, residences and flats, and its network of student canteens helps keep costs down. Summers in Seville are very hot, so ask about air conditioning when renting, especially if your courses run until late June. Contracts and deposits are covered in our student housing guide for Spain.
Visa and work
Russian citizens apply for a national student visa through BLS visa centres in their consular district no later than two months before classes. The consulate checks funds of $680 (€600) per month for the whole stay, health insurance and, for adults staying over 180 days, an apostilled criminal record certificate. The spring phase helps here: admission letters arrive in April, leaving several months for the visa. See the Spain student visa guide. With a student permit you may work up to 30 hours a week alongside your studies.
Common mistakes
- Missing the March window. The foreign-applicant phase is open for only two weeks, and certificate recognition must start well before.
- Applying to the spring phase with an older school certificate. The graduation-date condition is strict; earlier graduates need PAU or PCE.
- Skipping the grading-scale certificate. For master's admission, you are otherwise assigned the minimum pass mark.
- Ignoring binding preferences. A placement mid-list removes the choices below it.
- Underestimating Spanish. Apart from four English groups, teaching is in Spanish from day one.
Step-by-step plan for 2027/28
- Autumn 2026: choose degrees, start recognition of your school certificate with Spain's Ministry of Education, work on Spanish.
- Winter 2026/27: check the minimum grade announced for the foreign-applicant phase and gather documents.
- March 2027: apply in the spring foreign-applicant phase.
- April–May 2027: allocations, pre-enrolment with the $450 (€400) payment, then the visa application.
- July 2027: course enrolment.
- Back-up: sit PCE through UNEDasiss in spring and apply in the June main round.
Programme choice, document checks and the application itself are provided under an agreement with StudyU. Places are allocated by Andalusia's single district, recognition is decided by the Spanish Ministry of Education and visas by the consulate.
FAQ
How much does the University of Seville cost for international students?
In 2026/27 international students pay the same prices as Spanish students: $14 (€12.62) per first-enrolment credit, about $860 (€757.20) for a bachelor's year. From the second year, 99% of the price of courses passed at the first attempt is refunded.
Can I enter the University of Seville without PAU or PCE?
Yes, through the spring phase for foreign applicants. It admits foreign nationals who finished school abroad on or after 1 January 2023 (for 2026/27 entry) and whose certificate is recognised or under recognition. Places go by school grade.
When should I apply to the University of Seville?
In 2026 the foreign-applicant phase ran from 6 to 19 March and Andalusia's main round from 11 to 22 June. For master's applicants with foreign degrees, a separate phase ran from 13 to 29 January.
Does the University of Seville teach in English?
There are four English-taught groups: Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Tourism and Software Engineering. Twenty-three bachelor's and 15 master's programmes include some English-taught courses. All other teaching is in Spanish.
Do I need my degree recognised to apply for a master's?
No. In Andalusia's phase for foreign degree holders, recognition is not required: the university checks the level of your degree itself. You need the degree, a transcript, a grading-scale certificate and a Spanish translation.
Does the 99% discount apply to international students?
Yes. Everyone who studied at an Andalusian public university the previous year gets it for credits passed at the first attempt. The decree sets no nationality condition, and the university applies it automatically.
