How to apply

Requirements vary by program. Check Sheridan’s admission requirements, English proficiency and whether your chosen course requests a portfolio.

How admission to Sheridan College works, step by step:

  1. Choose a program (9–12 months ahead). Decide on the field — animation, illustration and design — and the credential and entry route for the specific program. Programs differ in requirements, deadlines and fees.
  2. Language certificate. Instruction is in English; acceptable evidence and minimum scores depend on the program and credential.
  3. Application. Applications are submitted online; the college reviews eligibility before issuing an offer. Use the offer and published fees to plan finances and housing.
  4. Student visa and relocation. After the offer, StudyU helps prepare visa or residence-permit documents for Canada; the consular or migration authority makes the decision.

Documents for admission

  • Passport
  • School certificate and transcript
  • IELTS/TOEFL
  • Creative portfolio

A portfolio or other assessment is required only when the chosen program specifies it; preparation can be included in agreed StudyU support.

Career after graduation

After graduation. A post-graduation work permit (PGWP) is not automatic. Before choosing a program, check whether that specific program and your own study history meet IRCC's current PGWP eligibility rules. Graduation from this college alone does not guarantee a work permit.

The strong fields of Sheridan College are animation, illustration and design. As at most universities in Canada, students have access to a career centre, job fairs and internships — use them from the first semesters: hands-on experience is decisive for the first job.

An alternative track is further study: a bachelor’s degree earned in Canada opens master’s programs worldwide, and a master’s strengthens your position on the job market.
