Tourism and Hotel Management in Turkey

In Turkey, Tourism and Hotel Management (Turizm ve Otel İşletmeciliği) is mainly a two-year associate programme taught in Turkish at vocational schools. It prepares you for front-office, housekeeping, food-and-beverage and reservation roles. Published fees are low: Haliç lists $1,500 a year and Nişantaşı $3,278 (list fee), both without a year label, while Yeni Yüzyıl's related Tourism and Travel Services programme costs $3,000 for 2026/27. For a four-year degree, look at Tourism Management.

The associate route suits applicants who want to start working quickly or to test the hotel industry before committing to four years. It is practical and short, but it leads to operational rather than management posts at the start.

If you want an English-taught hotel-management degree, the options are four-year programmes; Antalya Bilim University, for example, teaches Tourism Management in English in its Faculty of Tourism on the Mediterranean coast.

Ask which property-management and reservation software you will learn, whether there is a training restaurant or practice rooms, and how the workplace training is organised and assessed.

• a completed secondary-school certificate and transcript;
• Turkish at the university's required level (Haliç asks for TÖMER C1 for Turkish-taught programmes) or a Turkish preparatory year;
• for Antalya Bilim's English-taught bachelor's, English evidence or its preparatory programme;
• a passport and translated documents, and after admission the equivalence certificate (denklik) for your school diploma.

Guest-facing work is in Turkish and English, so a vocational programme with no Turkish is hard to complete successfully. Build your Turkish before the workplace-training semester.

1. Decide the route. Choose between a two-year associate for quick entry and a four-year Tourism Management degree for management careers.
2. Six months before. Start Turkish, gather documents and, if possible, work a hotel season to test the job.
3. Application. Apply through the university portal; vocational schools use the same international application route as faculties.
4. After acceptance. Pay the deposit shown in the letter and apply for a student visa; the consulate decides.
5. On arrival. Register, obtain denklik and apply for the residence permit, which the migration authority decides.

A frequent mistake is to expect a management title straight after a two-year diploma. Hotels value it for operational posts; promotion depends on experience, languages and, often, further study. See the Tourism Management guide for four-year options.

Add housing, uniform and kitchen or service kit where required, insurance and the residence permit. Working during your studies in Turkey requires a work permit, so ask the university's international office before accepting a seasonal job.

Associate graduates start as front-office and reservation agents, guest-relations staff, food-and-beverage and banqueting staff, housekeeping supervisors, and in travel-agency operations. With experience and languages, they move into supervisory and department roles.

Resort regions such as Antalya and the Aegean coast hire seasonally, and city hotels in Istanbul all year. An international graduate needs a work permit, applied for by the employer, to work in Turkey after graduation.
