Ireland: Dublin housing is a separate part of the decision

For Dublin, a university-specific calculation is useful. This example uses Trinity College Dublin and non-EU status; it does not describe all Irish programmes.
| Scenario | Approximate USD |
|---|---|
| Trinity B.E.S.S., 2026/27: first-year non-EU fee | $26,100 |
| Trinity: annual undergraduate living guide | $23,000–$33,500 |
Trinity’s estimate includes housing and daily expenses, plus allowances for insurance, administration and flights. Housing options cover different periods: check whether summer is included.
First-year B.E.S.S. example plus the published living guide: approximately $49,100–$59,600. Add expenses outside these categories.
A master’s needs its own programme fee and accommodation period. Fee status follows university rules, including residence history; a passport alone may not settle it.
If your budget is limited
Compare suitable programmes outside Dublin and actual rents. Low annual tuition may not help if affordable housing requires a long, costly commute.
What to prepare next
Include the subject, degree level, residence history relevant to fees and housing-inclusive budget. Mention possible cities beyond Dublin.
Rounded amounts are shown in US dollars for comparison, using ECB reference rates from 2026. The programme and its provider’s terms determine the final fee. Comparative scenario totals add the rounded rows. Count housing and other categories once. Check what the university calculation includes; add only missing expenses and StudyU fees separately. A deposit can require funds before studies start. Do not add proof of funds again to expenses those same funds cover.
The admission path
Admission is based on your diploma and an IELTS/TOEFL certificate. Master's admission is based on your bachelor's degree.
StudyU helps compare universities, check scholarship requirements, and prepare application and visa documents; the university and consular authority make the decisions.
Step by step:
- Pick a programme. Compare Dublin, Cork and Galway alongside the exact entry requirements and housing costs.
- Apply. Non-EU applicants apply directly to universities; winter-spring deadlines.
- Language. IELTS 6.0-6.5; pre-sessional language courses available at most universities.
- Visa and residence permission. Work depends on the type and conditions of immigration permission. Stamp 2 has limits on hours and permitted periods. The Third Level Graduate Programme requires separate eligibility after graduation; an extension is not automatic. Keep prospective earnings out of essential funding.
Applying with an 11-year school qualification
Eligibility depends on the school qualification and chosen programme. Check the university’s official requirements for the country that issued the certificate: an 11-year qualification may require preparation or additional education. The university decides admission. More: study-abroad guide.
Master's degrees in Ireland
A master’s has its own entry requirements, fee and duration. The university assesses the previous degree, academic fit and language evidence. Budget for the full accommodation period and any research or dissertation costs. Post-study immigration permission requires separate eligibility.
Check the complete funding plan
Use the same intake, study load and accommodation period when comparing offers. Confirm compulsory charges, payment dates and refund terms. Count housing and financial evidence once; add only expenses absent from the published calculation.

FAQ
It's an English-speaking EU country and the European headquarters of Google, Apple, Meta and others - plenty of opportunity in IT and business.
Entirely in English.
Staying after study requires an appropriate immigration permission. Eligible graduates may use the Third Level Graduate Programme; longer-term employment can require another route. Check which permission covers the intended job and when your current status expires.
Dublin accommodation is a major planning item. Use a confirmed housing period and programme fee, then compare other Irish cities or destinations against the full qualification cost. The Trinity example above is a guide for one route, not a minimum for Ireland.
For non-EU status, the Trinity B.E.S.S. 2026/27 example is about $26,100 for first-year tuition. Its undergraduate living guide is $23,000–$33,500, including housing and the university’s stated allowances. The combined example is $49,100–$59,600; it is not a country-wide tariff.
Check the type of immigration permission: Stamp 2 conditions differ from other statuses. Permitted hours depend on the academic or authorised holiday period. Fund essential costs without relying on future earnings.
The Third Level Graduate Programme is available to graduates who meet its qualification and immigration-status requirements. Check the application deadline and permission period; an extension is not automatic.

Why Ireland needs a careful budget conversation
Ireland is attractive because it combines English-language study, strong universities and a business environment connected to technology, finance and international companies. At the same time, it is not a low-budget route: accommodation, deposits and daily costs can shape the decision as much as tuition.
For StudyU, a serious Ireland shortlist starts with the programme and city, then moves to housing, application deadlines and the family's real first-year budget. This protects the student from choosing Ireland only because the academic brand is strong while the living plan is still unclear.
