The price of study
BI lists about $14,800 annually for its 2026/27 Bachelor of Business Administration, Data Science for Business and Digital Business for students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. Citizenship and qualifying residence status can change the category. This prices those programmes, not every Norwegian university; course literature is extra.
The listed BI fee plus the 12-month funding calculation gives about $34,700 before flights, permit charges, insurance, study materials and a housing deposit. The equivalent partial subtotal for 11 months is $33,000. Check mandatory charges and summer housing separately. Compare eligible programmes and shared accommodation for a smaller budget; do not deduct future work or an unawarded scholarship from essential funding.
BI: tuition · Study in Norway: costs and permits · BI: Bachelor International Scholarship · HK-dir: GSU
BI’s Bachelor International Scholarship for the 2026 intake covers 50% of tuition for up to three years on eligible programmes, subject to academic progression. The number of awards is limited, living costs are separate and the next intake needs its own rules.
The admission path
Bachelor’s entry depends on the country-specific GSU qualification and programme subjects and language. Master’s entry assesses the previous degree, relevant credits and language; a diploma alone does not establish admission.
Under an agreement with StudyU, support includes comparing agreed universities, checking requirements and preparing application and visa documents. Universities decide admission and the responsible authority decides permission to stay.
Step by step:
- Budget. Non-EU/EEA/Swiss students normally pay tuition; check programme fees and any exemption.
- Eligibility. Check the exact country and qualification in the GSU list, then programme requirements.
- Language. Confirm teaching, examination and placement languages and accepted evidence.
- Permit. Check tuition and living-funds evidence separately, with the correct duration.
Admission with an 11-year certificate
GSU requirements depend on the country and qualification. Some applicants need one or two years of recognised higher education after school; an 11-year certificate does not create one universal route. Confirm the exact GSU entry and programme requirements. See the application sequence: study-abroad guide.
Master's degrees in Norway
Master’s programmes assess the prior degree, relevant subjects, grades and language. English-taught options do not remove programme-specific tests or credit requirements. Funding and any post-study residence route require separate assessment.

FAQ
Yes, Norway offers English-taught programs, especially at the master's level and in business schools.
Living costs need a secured budget. The official 2026/27 reference is about $18,200 for 11 months; the same rate gives about $19,900 for 12 months. Actual rent and other expenses may be higher; tuition and extra charges are separate.
Business, technology, marine and environmental sciences.
Recognition depends on the qualification, destination and purpose. The receiving university decides further-study eligibility; a competent professional body assesses regulated practice.
Non-EU/EEA/Swiss degree students normally pay tuition, with exemptions for some statuses and schemes. The named BI 2026/27 bachelor examples are about $14,800 annually for that fee category; this is not a national range.
Check the GSU entry for the country and qualification. Some routes need one or two years of recognised higher education after school. Master’s admission separately assesses the previous degree, subjects and language.
The official 2026/27 living-funds reference is about $18,200 for an 11-month academic period. Extending the same monthly rate to a 12-month planning period gives about $19,900. This is a funding floor for comparison, not a guarantee actual expenses fit it. Check permit duration, rent, food and transport; do not add funds evidence again to the same living costs.
For an English-taught programme, meet its accepted English-language requirements. Norwegian-taught programmes require the specified Norwegian evidence. Check placement language separately.
Common mistakes to avoid
Check the programme and scholarship calendars before preparing documents: application rounds are not identical across institutions. Student housing may have its own queue and deadline. Compare the full rental period, included bills and deposit; no room should be assumed before confirmation.
