Audiology in Turkey: the short answer

Audiology is a four-year health-sciences bachelor's that trains you to assess hearing and balance, fit and verify hearing aids, support cochlear-implant users and run hearing rehabilitation for children and adults. At the private universities listed here the programme is taught in Turkish, with published international fees from $3,500 a year (Gelişim, 2025/26 list) to $8,500 a year (Bahçeşehir, 2026/27).

Audiology is not medicine: diagnosing and treating ear disease belongs to ENT physicians, and implant surgery to a surgical team. It is also different from the two-year Audiometry associate degree, which trains technicians; the bachelor's gives the broader clinical and scientific basis of an audiologist.

Curriculum and clinical training

The first year lays the science base: anatomy and physiology of the auditory and vestibular systems, physics of sound, acoustics and basic medical terminology. The second and third years cover pure-tone and speech audiometry, immittance testing, electrophysiology such as ABR and otoacoustic emissions, paediatric and geriatric audiology, hearing aids and verification, and vestibular assessment.

Clinical practice under supervision grows each year and usually fills most of the final year, in university hospitals and affiliated clinics. Because patients, case notes and supervisors work in Turkish, your Turkish must be good enough to explain a test, take a history and write a report. Ask each faculty which hospitals host students and how many practice hours you complete.

Who audiology suits

Choose it if you…

  • You are interested in health care but prefer technology-supported assessment and rehabilitation.
  • You are patient with children and older adults and like explaining results clearly.
  • You can reach clinical-level Turkish during the first year.

Worth a pause if…

  • You want to become a doctor; audiology does not lead to medical practice.
  • You need an English-taught programme; the options on this page are Turkish-taught.

Entry requirements for international students

Private universities admit audiology applicants on school results or international exams. Biology, chemistry and physics grades are the ones reviewers look at most closely.

  • School documents: certificate and transcript (the 11-year certificate for Russian and CIS applicants), translations and the Ministry of National Education equivalence at registration.
  • Turkish: an accepted Turkish level or the university's Turkish preparatory programme before the first year.
  • Health and vaccinations: clinical placements usually require up-to-date vaccinations and a health statement; ask for the list before arrival.
  • Master's: Gelişim offers a Turkish-taught thesis master's in audiology; ask which bachelor's backgrounds it accepts.

How to compare audiology programmes

  • Clinical placements: a university hospital with an audiology unit or a cochlear-implant centre gives far better practice than external clinics alone.
  • Equipment: ask about access to audiometers, tympanometers, ABR/OAE systems, hearing-aid fitting software and vestibular testing.
  • Campus: Medipol charges different fees at its main School of Health Sciences and its Haliç-campus College of Health Sciences, so check which one your offer names.
  • Quality assurance: check the university's accreditation status with YÖKAK and ask whether the programme has a health-sciences programme accreditation.
  • Home-country recognition: find out now how your health ministry registers audiologists trained abroad.

Careers and professional recognition

Audiologists work in hospital audiology units, private hearing-aid and implant centres, newborn hearing-screening programmes, rehabilitation centres, schools for children with hearing loss and hearing-device companies. Some move into research or product specialist roles with manufacturers.

The right to practise is set by each country's health regulator. In Türkiye, audiologist duties are defined in Ministry of Health regulations on health professions; abroad, you may need diploma recognition, a language test and registration. Check the rules of the country where you plan to work before choosing a university.

Clinical training adds costs for uniforms, transport to hospitals and vaccinations; include housing, health insurance and residence-permit fees in the annual budget.

How StudyU helps audiology applicants

A personal strategy, requirement checks, selection of agreed options, document preparation, applications, and support are provided under an agreement with StudyU. For audiology we can compare clinical placement arrangements and fees across the universities above and check the Turkish-language route for your start date. The university decides admission and scholarships, Türkiye's Ministry of National Education decides school-certificate equivalence, the consulate decides the visa, the migration authority issues the residence permit, and the dormitory or landlord confirms housing.
