Primary education degrees in Turkey: the short answer
Primary Education (classroom teaching, sınıf öğretmenliği) is a four-year teacher-education bachelor's that prepares teachers for the first years of school, covering literacy, mathematics, science and social studies teaching, child development and supervised school practice. An English-taught classroom-teaching degree is unusual in Turkey, where most teacher education is in Turkish. That makes TED University’s programme attractive for international students who want to teach in English-medium or international schools, provided the destination country recognises the qualification.

Entry requirements for international applicants
Admission is based on school results and English; the university publishes its own minimums.
- School certificate and transcript. Holders of the 11-year certificate should confirm eligibility with the university. The Ministry of National Education issues the equivalence certificate (denklik) after admission.
- Exams. SAT, TR-YÖS or national exam scores are accepted by many private universities and may affect scholarships.
- English. An accepted English score or the university’s proficiency exam; otherwise the English preparatory programme comes first.
- Scholarship requests. TED’s fee page lists scholarship levels of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%; the university decides who receives them.
