The admission path

3. Eligibility check. Austrian universities accept 11-year certificates, but may assign supplementary Ergänzungsprüfung exams - prepared at the university Vorstudienlehrgang course.
4. Apply. Main public deadlines: early September for winter semester, early February for summer; medicine and psychology run their own earlier exams.
5. Residence permit. Issued after admission with proof of funds and insurance.

Applying after an 11-year school programme

The number of school years alone does not establish eligibility. The university checks the certificate, issuing country, higher-education eligibility, subjects and language against the chosen programme’s rules. Supplementary exams or preparation may be required; the university decides admission.
