Program overview

Turkish Preparatory Programme develops Turkish-language skills before degree study; it is not a bachelor’s degree. Istanbul Galata University’s GalaTAM teaches CEFR language levels. The starting level, course calendar and target university’s language requirement determine the route and duration.

Did you know? Language preparation and degree admission are separate steps. Before enrolling, confirm the required proficiency level, accepted certificate and conditions for starting the degree.

During the free initial consultation, we clarify your goal, profile, timing, and budget and identify the next realistic step. A personal strategy, requirement checks, selection of agreed options, document preparation, applications, and support are provided under an agreement with StudyU.

Key subjects you take

The stages below describe language learning, not academic years. GalaTAM publishes seven weeks and 140 teaching hours for each level from A1 to C1. Confirm the current timetable and your placement before planning your stay.

  • Academic writing
  • Field terminology
  • Culture and country studies
  • Final exam (TÖMER)

What language preparation supports

  • Preparation for a later Turkish-taught degree, subject to its entry conditions
  • Development of Turkish reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • Preparation for the academic environment

Language skills and later qualifications

What the course provides. Turkish preparation develops language skills. It does not award a teaching degree or professional licence; any later degree and professional eligibility must be considered separately.

Plan the next step: check whether the intended degree accepts the course certificate and what other entry conditions apply.

Is this your path?

Choose it if you…

  • You are interested in Turkish Preparatory Programme and related subjects.
  • You want structured language practice before studying in Turkish.
  • You want experience of studying abroad and are ready to check how the qualification is recognised for your next study or career step.

Worth a pause if…

  • You're undecided on your direction - begin with a consultation.
  • You need a program strictly in your native language (check the language of instruction at the university).

Additional guide to programme language

For a Turkish Preparatory Programme, the important question is not only the language course itself but also which later programmes are Turkish-taught. Topkapi lists Turkish-taught Music, Theatre and Coaching Education, and Bahcesehir also lists Music in Turkish.

Examples to check with StudyU: Topkapi University: Music (Bachelor, Turkish); Topkapi University: Theatre (Bachelor, Turkish); Topkapi University: Coaching Education (Bachelor, Turkish); Bahcesehir University: Music (Bachelor, Turkish).

How to apply for Turkish Preparatory Programme in Turkey

Start with the language centre’s enrolment requirements, placement assessment, available course levels and schedule. Check which level and assessments the quoted fee includes and what certificate is issued on completion. Language-course registration and degree admission are separate decisions. A later degree application has its own academic, language and registration requirements. Under an agreement with StudyU, we help prepare the agreed application documents. The university decides admission to the degree; the language centre decides registration for its own course.

FAQ about the program

Check the language centre’s enrolment and placement rules. Enrolling in Turkish preparation is separate from admission to a degree: the university assesses your school qualification and other entry requirements for that later programme.

The course teaches Turkish. Confirm your starting level, the required proficiency for the intended degree and whether its university accepts the course certificate.

This is language preparation, not a four-year degree. GalaTAM’s published schedule gives seven weeks per level from A1 to C1. Your starting level, target level, breaks and any repeat assessment affect the total duration; confirm the current course calendar before booking travel.

Under an agreement with StudyU, we check requirements, prepare documents, submit the application, and support the agreed steps. The university makes the admission decision; the relevant authority decides the visa, and the university or provider confirms housing availability. During the free initial consultation, we clarify your goal, profile, timing, and budget and identify the next realistic step.

A language course does not by itself qualify you as a teacher or establish eligibility for another regulated profession. Its purpose is language preparation. Any later job depends on your qualifications, experience, work authorisation and the employer’s requirements; this course has no single graduate salary.
